Thomas Saleh

Policy Advisor, Data and Technology, IISD-ELA

Thomas Saleh is a Policy Advisor with IISD Experimental Lakes Area (IISD-ELA).

He builds data applications for scientific research and environmental decision-making. His focus is on designing reliable and ethical evidence systems for water management and ecosystem health. In his role, Thomas has built accessible hydrological models for rural water management, designed a machine learning model for predicting ice cover at IISD-ELA, and piloted new real-time water monitoring technologies in the Winnipeg River.

Prior to joining IISD-ELA, Thomas used public data to analyze markets for infrastructure service providers across North America. As a graduate student, he studied vulnerability-centered approaches to climate change adaptation and water access in Guyana. 

Thomas holds a master’s degree in geography from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from McGill University.
